Students at Geisinger College of Health Sciences have several opportunities to connect with the community during their time with us.

- White Coat Ceremony (MD)
- Celebration of Remembrance (MD): A Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine community celebration in honor of those who enhance medical education through the donation of their bodies. This event consists of readings and musical reflections prepared by students and faculty who gain knowledge from this ultimate gift. Donors’ families are invited to attend and see how their loved one made a positive impact on the Geisinger Commonwealth community.
Student events
Throughout the year, the Center for Student Affairs and Engagement, in collaboration with the Medical Student Council, hosts numerous events for all students, faculty, staff and the community we serve. Don't miss out on the major initiatives outlined below.
Student Groups Fair
This is a great opportunity to meet student group leaders to find out what might interest you. With 70+ student groups, you’re sure to find your perfect fit. We take new group applications during the open enrollment period.
Safe Trick-or-Treat
The Geisinger College of Health Sciences community opens its doors to host a safe trick-or-treat evening for local kids and their families. This event has tons of games, activities, goodies and costume contests!
Holiday Kickoff Event
Because we all celebrate different holiday traditions from numerous cultures, this gives us space to share what makes our holidays unique to us and celebrate cultural differences. The celebration includes holiday food and drink, as well as holiday cheer courtesy of our student a cappella groups – the Guy Singers, male a cappella group, and the Cerebellas, female a cappella group.
This event is our biggest student organized fundraiser. All proceeds benefit Friends of the Poor in Scranton.
Student Formal
Our annual formal invites students from all programs and years to enjoy a night out. This is an opportunity to listen to your favorite songs played by the DJ while doing some social networking with your peers.
Find Your Specialty (FYS)
This event invites you to listen to and engage with physicians from different specialties to help you choose the career path that’s best for you.
